Functions of Glutathione in the Body
Glutathione’s most important function is to neutralize what are known as reactive oxygen species (ROS). These include free radicals—that is, unstable, highly reactive atoms or molecules that have at least one unpaired electron. In addition, more stable molecules such as hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) are also classified as ROS. Both act as strong oxidizing agents, meaning they can snatch individual electrons from other molecules and trigger devastating chain reactions—such as cellular damage that harms DNA or promotes the development of diseases.
As a key antioxidant molecule in cellular metabolism, glutathione can provide protection. With its help, the body can even “repair” existing damage. The enormous potential of reduced glutathione to donate electrons forms the basis for this.
Reduglu induces the production of glutathione
Reduglu consists of GSH precursors (activated acetylcysteine), vitamin C, and GSH-Intra (processed polyphenols) and causes a significant increase in intracellular reduced glutathione (especially in cases of low GSH levels), which can be verified by measuring intracellular reduced glutathione levels.
