The Reishi Medicinal Mushroom
Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum, also known as the glossy lacquer mushroom, Ganoderma lucidum, or Ling Zhi) is undoubtedly one of the best-known medicinal mushrooms. In Chinese medicine, it is referred to as the “mushroom of long life” or the “mushroom of immortality” and is highly valued. Reishi contains a wide range of essential compounds. This medicinal mushroom is described in detail in naturopathy, and there are numerous studies on its constituents. It has a very broad range of applications and is therefore also referred to as the “all-rounder” among medicinal mushrooms.
Mykoplan’s “Whole Life Cycle” products have made it possible to gently produce bioactive medicinal mushroom products. They contain high levels of all essential ingredients while preserving the holistic integrity of the mushroom. Depending on the harvest, the content of key polysaccharides ranges from 26% to 32%—a level that is normally achievable only through specialized extraction processes.
Use in Naturopathy
- Support for a healthy immune system: Reishi's immune-boosting and immune-modulating properties are primarily attributed to the antioxidant beta-glucans it contains.
- Support for a healthy cardiovascular system: In addition to helping normalize blood lipid levels and control cholesterol levels, its antioxidant properties can have a positive effect on heart and blood vessels.
- Liver support: Helps with detoxification processes and regulates fat metabolism. The high content of triterpenes has a positive effect on all types of inflammation in the body.
- Oxidative Stress: Reishi may improve antioxidant capacity in blood plasma and reduce markers of oxidative stress.
- Type 2 diabetes mellitus: Reishi helps stabilize blood sugar levels and improves blood sugar regulation and can be used in consultation with a doctor or therapist as a complementary treatment to diabetes therapy.
- Support for physical and mental well-being: Regular consumption of reishi can boost performance and help prevent premature fatigue.

Mykoplan® Medicinal Mushrooms
For many years, Mykoplan has combined a passion for medicinal mushrooms with in-depth experience in traditional natural sciences. It is the only manufacturer we know of that succeeds in holistically capturing the vital energy of mushrooms: In addition to the fruiting body and the mycelium, all other aspects of the mushroom—including spores, primordia, and the extracellular matrix—are also processed. This results in truly premium medicinal mushroom products. Pure cultivated mushrooms from the U.S. are used for this purpose, and processing takes place in Switzerland.
