Vitamin A
Vitamin A encompasses a wide variety of substance groups that have similar effects in the body. For example, vitamin A includes retinol itself and approximately 50 carotenoids (precursors of vitamin A, known as provitamins, which the body can convert into vitamin A, such as beta-carotene). Retinol was discovered in 1909. When sufficient fat is present in the diet, approximately 80% of the fat-soluble vitamin A is absorbed (absorption = the uptake of substances into biological systems).
Vitamin A is important for pregnant women in two ways: On the one hand, a vitamin A deficiency can harm the unborn child; on the other hand, it is important to avoid an overdose. Pregnant women should not consume more than 3 mg of retinol equivalent per day.

Serving Suggestions
Place 1 drop directly on the tongue or take it with a liquid.
According to the German Nutrition Society (DGE), the following applies:
- Men 19 years of age and older have a recommended daily intake of 1 mg of vitamin A; for women, it is 0.8 mg
- Pregnant women from the fourth month onward have an increased need; they should consume 1.1 mg daily, and breastfeeding mothers should consume 1.5 mg.
- Children under four months: 0.5 mg
- Children up to three years of age: 0.6 mg; children from four to six years of age: 0.7 mg
- Children between the ages of seven and nine: 0.8 mg; between the ages of ten and twelve: 0.9 mg
- Girls aged 13 to 14: 1.0 mg; girls aged 15 to 18: 0.9 mg
- Boys between the ages of 13 and 18 have a slightly higher requirement of 1.1 mg of vitamin A
