DAOZym® – With the histamine-degrading enzyme DAO

The list of foods that contain histamine or release histamine is long. It ranges from hard cheeses and smoked meats to various types of fruit, chocolate, and alcoholic beverages such as red wine.

In the body, the naturally occurring enzyme diamine oxidase—DAO for short—is responsible for breaking down histamine. However, breaking down histamine can prove difficult for many people. There are many reasons for reduced DAO activity, but they all lead to the same result: discomfort after consuming certain foods, caused by insufficient breakdown of histamine.
